What happens during a Reiki 1 workshop?

The workshops run from 10am to 5pm for two days. This gives time for the students to get to know and trust each other and to practice together, and to become familiar with the energy of reiki.

We start by introducing ourselves with any information that you would like to share. We then do a little calming meditation to make the mind clear and receptive to reiki, followed by an introduction to metta practice, a Buddhist meditation practice of generating loving kindness (which is of course shared by many religions).

I then speak generally about Reiki, and tell the story of Dr Usui’s discovery of it; often this leads into questions and discussion. After this, I give the first of four attunements for Reiki 1, and the students start to practice together.

The rest of the workshop follows the same pattern, with discussion and sharing, group meditation, the remaining three attunements and plenty of time to practice with each other and raise any questions or issues that may arise.

I also teach awareness of the seven major chakras, as an understanding of the chakra system is useful for knowing where in the body specific emotional issues may treated.

Many students come to me afterwards and say what a fantastic, peaceful, healing weekend it has been.

Following the workshop, I offer ongoing support and advice, and any old students are most welcome to join later workshops free of charge (donations welcome), to refresh and reconnect with Reiki, or just to spend some healing time with others.

I am also planning to hold regular Reiki group meetings from November 2004, where we share Reiki with each other – this is a pleasant, calm, relaxing evening and an opportunity to connect with other Reiki practitioners and keep your skills alive.

Reiki 2 workshops

Reiki 2 is for people who have been attuned to Reiki 1 and have been practising for some time, and now wish to enhance their healing abilities with Reiki.

In a Reiki 2 workshop, students receive further, more powerful, attunements and learn techniques to further increase the effectiveness of the Reiki that they give. Students also learn how to focus Reiki on any emotional or mental problems the recipient may be experiencing, and how to send Reiki across time and space, to a person not present, to past difficulties or future possible difficulties.

With Reiki 2 you deepen your relationship with Reiki, and acquire more ability to take responsibility for your own healing, and that of others, on all levels.
